How does an animal in the wild react to a feeling of sickness? It finds a place to lay in hiding, stops eating and sleeps more than plenty. Instinctively knowing what it takes for its body to heal. Our bodies have the same healing abilities, natural tendencies to heal itself. You may ask then how is it the pharmaceutical companies have us hooked on our not so perfect little pills that seem to provide no cure but mask the symptoms of the illness to persuade us to believe our body is better? What about our body’s own healing abilities? Why is it we fail to let our body find what is needs to curb what ails it? Why are so many reluctant to rely on the wondrous healing properties we can find in nature? Man has a funny way of taking all things and redeveloping what ever it may be maybe as a means to take credit for the results. The western world has done just that with medicine, despite what nature provides for most any time of need.

The natural healing force within each of us is the greatest force in getting well.”- Hippocrates.

Quick Tips and Home Remedies

Medicine is a practice as we know and practice makes perfect. More and more of us are going back to nature in practicing our healing techniques. I believe for good reason. More and more doctors are turning to the natural ways of preventive medicine and healing options as well. Why not nourish your body with the nutrients and such that it needs to perform the metabolic process involved in ridding the body of viruses, bacteria and toxics that make us ill, allow time for sleep, sprinkle in a bit of sunshine and let the healing take its course. That all sounds much more pleasing than the usual studying of the encyclopedia of side-effects that accompanies our little orange bottles. The overall expense, both financially and mentally is found to be less when we are able to practice trusting in nature. The evidence is coming to light and gaining acceptance more rapidly than ever before, and why not when all there is to lose is the poisons and toxins, bad foods, stress, pollutants we breath in and so on. The benefits of knowing have rewards beyond just the relief of illness but peace of mind as well.

The examples of natural cures that have proven results, reduced or removed patient prescription medication intake, and/or eliminated pain and suffering are numerous. So why not inquire with your physician the next time he takes out his pen to write your script about what natural prescriptions might be an option to take into practice. Remember though most doctors are linked to the drug companies through the business of medicine, a second opinion from a nutritionist or practitioner of natural medicine may be an option. Don’t get me wrong, if I were injured and in need of emergency services I am comfortable knowing western medicine is second to none in such a situation, but the idea of my health being treated as a business makes me a bit uncomfortable. More so now even herbs are being legalized and used for medicinal purposes such as pain reduction. Schools of natural medicine, holistic medicine and naturopathic healing are making their mark across the planet.

Natural cures work with something we call synergy. A combination of mind and body with the nutrients and herbs our bodies desire to heal what ails it. Natural remedies work together with the body where as most manufactured medicine works on one symptom at a time. That could easily lead to the intake of numerous pills prescribed over time until the ones that mask the given symptoms best are found. So next time you feel sick or ill look at the options out there and take advantage of them as the drug companies have done with the business of medicine for too long now.

Theanine - found in green tea is proven to ease anxiety, even with the caffeine doesn’t cause the jittery sensations of coffee.

Glutamine - has proven to cure cravings for those wishing to reduce their weight.

Lysine- a herpes enemy. It is an amino acid. Lysine when more present in the body than arginine has proven to disable the herpes replication process in the body.

Melatonin- cures the symptoms of jet lag for all you frequent flyers.

*This list could go on for a good length, but I am not a practitioner of natural medicine, a doctor or have any type of certification declaring my education on the values of the above information. I recommend researching on your own and seeking a professional regarding any health matters*

God I hate pharmaceutical companies. In the end it's always a question of education. . .well, at least in these types of instances. But at the same time the alternatives to big pharma are suppressed. . .God I hate pharmaceutical companies.

Medicine is not absolutely perfect. For my sake, I had to experiment on dosages of natural herbs to get rid of coughs, insect bites and all. Natural remedies are everywhere. We just have to be aware of its uses. BTW, I'm still finishing a hub on my herbs and spices compilation-the common medicinal plants that grow at my backyard. I hope it could draw response coming from you and other hubbers, as well. Thanks for sharing this.
