The Federal Reserve crushing the middle class with "Quantitative Easing"!

Quantitative Easing

Simply put, Quantitative Easing is when the Federal Reserve turns the presses on, prints our currency, cuts the sheets and sends the new money to market. Ultimately pushing inflation. Not such a good idea from a middle-class point of view. Why? The purchasing power of the middle-class is lowered while the cost of necessities such as food products rise at alarming rates! For example cotton is up 54% in 60 days, corn up 29%, soy 22%, and so on!

So here "We the People" are, running to the voting booths to do our part. We're being distracted by the MSM and the "donkeys" and "republicorps" continue to bring our attention to taxes, and Palin and the Tea Party movement and such, while the Federal Reserve prints up the dough in the back ally! The "End of Liberty" is on its way!

Quantitative easing may rally the "DOW" and its relatives but what good results from that for the middle-class citizen? Nothing, not a thing will the average citizen gain from this except the struggle to buy the next great "cell phone" or "I-pad" to stick in the Christmas stocking of their child this holiday season. Parents are going to have enough trouble getting the ham or turkey to the table if inflation continues on its current trend!

Free-market? yeah right!

Wall Street sits up in inactivity each night just waiting to hear the next bit of babble that dribbles from the lips of Ben Barnanke, our giving and caring Federal Reserve Chairman. Barnanke says nothing and Wall Street flutters through the day, Barnanke announces the expansion of the balance sheet by $600 billion and the market reacts immediately. This just shows the vulnerability of the economic system and the excess liquidity already floating around the world market. Where will "double-dipping" in a recession lead to in regards to managing inflation, or creating deflation? Times have shown in months to follow similar instances in the past that inflation kept rising and the debasing of the dollar bill continued. The only up side was immediate and most always short-lived in stimulating the stock market giving the investors a quick shot at quick cash with unfavorable long term results for "We the People".

Come on America, the joke's on us! The wealthy will continue to run us into our holes, (soon your homes may look like a hole!),and heard us like sheep into the future of THE RICH AND THE POOR! No more middle-class is on the horizon! Take a look at the past twenty years, the rise of the wealthy in that time, the debasing of the dollar going on right now, the limitations being places on the rights we still have, the "hype" the mainstream media forces down our throats, the unemployment situation, and the trillions our country is in debt to its creditors and try to paint a picture in your head of what the next 20 years is going to look like! Its not pretty, and we can't just sit back and watch anymore or we won't have a say in the brush strokes or even the colors being used in the painting of "OUR" future!!

We need to act and quite possibly in a drastic and immediate fashion. What would the government do if we unified and started taking simple actions with a big impact? What would the government do if a majority of Americans of every industry called in sick to work on the same day, say every Friday for two or three weeks in a row? What would be the "tax" revenue lost? How about every American just claims exempt this coming tax season when we file our returns?!! Just think of what "We the People" could say to our governing powers that be with actions such as these! Just think, just imagine if we rolled the sh*t back up the hill in unified barrels with a big ole' stamp declaring "WE THE PEOPLE!" No longer accept what "OUR" government is doing to us!

The true controller of our economy!

Jeremy another great Hub. We're lingering in a rut made for us by exactly what you've pointed out in this write.

What about the price of coffee? Why do we have to go shopping and wonder if "we" can afford that now? Thank you for writing this it's much more realistic and down to earth than the boring newscasters on t.v. The rich? I just recently saw an article with photos included where some of the rich live in mansions and have their own personal mini-malls included. A bit too rich to drive to the stores? Thanks again for sharing.

Terrific writing. The Dow no longer reflects the state of our economy. We might as well go to OTB.

Nice write Jeremy, except when you said the Wealthy will run us into the ground, NEVER blame the wealthy, The wealthy pick up all the tab for this country and its billions in entitlements, The poor don't pay taxes! What you are referring to in the above about the Federal Reserve printing money is a Democrat trick to say they paid down debt, This will be the way the feds buy back treasury bonds and then tell the people look what we did for you! Hopefully the pubs will see it different!

and BP where were you at on this one? switching teams on us??? LOL

I have been poor for a few years and if I check the percentages my rate would be near equal to those making say $5 million or more! Then take into account when I spend my pennies the drastic rise in percentage of tax. Isn't it strange that Warren Buffet's secratary, for example, pays a higher tax than him after the numbers are crunched?????? The printing of money is a Federal trick to stimulate wallstreet and the middle-class and poor suffer the most as a result! No doubt you are right they use this as a tactic in saying "look what we've done" but its affects are equal to all political parties.

How can I not blame the wealthy when I can trace every misfortune in history to someone or some organization of wealth???? The wealthy became wealthy off of tricks like this, playing with the value of the dollar, buying political "favors" to benefit corporations and organizations. The wealthy buy the pulling of strings and the poor must scamper for scraps to build a ladder to reach the strings in any attempt to pull back! Respect you much AR but the wealthy will leave you behind as well because I'm guessing you aren't in the "wealthiest 10% in this country", so don't go blindly my friend, even the republicans play tricks are their followers from time to time!

I'll admit my ignorance on economics although I am learning. My son who has been trying to make a go of small business has a lot of bad things to say about the Fed. I do remember the mass production of money in the Johnson administration which I think led to the indlation on top of unemployment.

You couldn't have said this at a better time! I am so glad people are being educated here with what is actually going on in the world around us! Please keep up the good work!

P.S. the photo of the green back toilet paper is a perfect example of what can happen with fiat money!

Write on!

Dahoglund, good to see you stop by again. Yes inflation is here already but now its heading to "hyper" mode. I myself don't have much of an economics edeucation but in these times, I'm learning quick. We are in trouble my friend and too many of us are blind to the "economic disasters that lie in waiting! I fear the worst is yet to come and the "wealthy" are gonna save their own asses, leaving "we the people" fighting over muffins at the soup kitchen!

Run Abstract- you couldn't have said it better, I even beat the MSM! I added a video today (11/4), Glenn Beck show on Fox, that aired today. Hopefully people start to open their eyes now that the elections are over and realize its more than just the politicians messing with our future!

Jeremy, thank you for this amazingly insightful article. The middle class has had the wool pulled over its eyes by our government and huge corporations, but if we don't wake up, we will find ourselves with a collapsed dollar and all the things we need to buy will be off the chart where cost is concerned. Thank you, again.

Up/Awesome

CreatePerfection thanks for commenting. No doubt if we don't wake up like, yesterday the collapse of the dollar is coming, and China is waiting patiently to put the last straw on the camels back!
