The Georgia Guidestones and Surrounding Conspiracy Theories
79The Georgia Guidestones Mystery
There are mysterious happenings just about everyday, just about everywhere, all throughout time. One of these mysteries, that keeps me guessing, is out on the highest hilltop in a little place in Elbert County, Georgia. You’ll find there is what some have come to name, “the American Stonehenge,” better known as the Georgia Guidestones. The mystery that environs the Georgia Guidestones is of a different nature and much less well known. A version of the stories includes a conspiracy theory involving the ‘Occult Hierarchy’ some believe to be in control of our world through wealth and power. Similar to the rumors behind the hierarchy are the rumors behind the guidestones. The origination of these stones is to be speculated despite knowing the company which constructed the peculiar structure. Elberton Granite Finishing Company is said to have built the Georgia Guidestones back in June of 1979 after being approached about the project by a fellow going by the name of R. C. Christian. This man is just another entity of the mystery. Christian claimed he represented a group of men, he was well-dressed and quite articulate according to Elberton Granite Company’s president at the time but the president was skeptical and referred the man to the company’s banker , Wyatt Martin. Martin met with Christian to hear the reasoning behind the strange request and the need for anonymity. Needless to say, the Georgia Guidestones were made. I wonder if anyone knows what bank Mr. Martin worked for?
Their Structuring and Astronomical Alignments
Near twenty feet, four feet wide tall slabs of granite were quarried, cut, sandblasted and hauled to the hilltop seven miles north of Elberton, near Nuberg, GA, and were put in place. The stones weren’t just set there to be read, they were placed in specific alignment to the stars, but with a message of distinct intentions. One specific detail was the drilling of a hole through the center stone enabling the north star to be seen at any given time. They were astronomically aligned with the north celestial pole, the noonday sun, and the rising and setting points of the sun and moon as well. These alignments add to the mystery as some consider the occults that are associated with such astronomical alignments as mystifying in their own way. The four outer stones are oriented to mark the limits of the 18.6 year lunar declination cycle, as well as a slot that is aligned with the Sun's solstices and equinoxes. There is a 7/8" slit in the capstone allowing a ray of sun to pass through at noon each day. That noon time sunray shines a beam on the center stone indicating the day of the year. Then we have the messages carved into the stone in four inch letters.
The Ten Messages Inscribed on the Monument
Let These be Guidesrones to an Age of Reason
"Maintain Humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature."
"Guide reproduction wisely- improving fitness and diversity."
"Unite humanity with a living new language."
"Rule passion, faith, tradition and all things with tempered reason."
"Protect people with fair laws and just courts."
"Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court."
"Avoid petty laws and useless officials."
"Balance personal rights with social duties."
"Prize truth - beauty - love - seeking harmony with the infinite."
"Be not a cancer on the earth - Leave room for nature - Leave room for nature."
What Might It All Mean?
There seems to be a harshness underlying the messages. There also seems to be some truth to them. There is definitely some mystery to them! There is also some scary logic in calculating the messages. What is it the future has in waiting? The interpretation is wide open to speculation. Let us dissect the inscriptions for a moment. Limit the population of the earth to 500 million! It seems to me that would require the eradication of nearly 90% of the world's human beings! No small task, but the means to do so exist in the worlds nuclear arsenal and nature’s fury may be capable of such an event. Either way the idea is a frightening one. I can understand controlling reproduction for a number of reasons but don’t much care for the idea of limiting one’s personal choice of family size. Co-existing with nature makes perfect sense to me despite the difficulties our modernized world puts in play. As for creating a ‘one world’ language, I think that would present a prolonged procedure and I already like to think of music as a universal language. There is the request for the recognition of spirituality and it’s wisdom as guidance over everything and suggestion of fairness and equality for all the living. Isn’t that what most of us want anyways? How about the idea of a ‘World Court’? I believe this one is already in the making. As the world is becoming more ‘linked’ through technology and economic reliance this is a necessity from my point of view. These guidestones present some deep thought requirements that maybe mankind should have been paying more attention to all along. What’s your perspective?
Robert Edward Turner (Ted Turner)
Is Ted Turner the Mysterious R.C. Christian?
So who could this R.C. Christian actually be? Nobody seems to know for sure but some stories of interest have circulated over the past 20 years or so. One story suggests the possibility of Christians true identity being that of Ted Turner. “How did his name become involved?” is what I asked myself when I heard the rumor. In 1986 a book was published titled “Common Sense Renewed ” and authored by a Robert Christian. The story’s vision for the future is a totalitarian world order where the most sacred act of humanity, procreation, is completely controlled and regulated by the state for selective breeding to modify human behavior in an attempt at increasing compliance and loyalty. Children become the property of the state, influencing how they’re grow. God-given rights are exchanged with privileges granted for services rendered to the state. Suffrage is limited to the few considered worthy. Health care is rationed according to your value to the state, the elite receiving access to life saving and extending medical services. The unemployed become property of the state to be shipped anywhere labor is needed and refusal results in starvation, no health care and imaginably much worse. Christian’s book seems to wish most of us dead and the remaining survivors will be treated more like livestock than men, women and children in what is described as a new Rational World Order. It is only a book, right?
Maybe not. About that Ted Turner guy, there is supposedly an unidentified investigative journalist out there running around with a few puzzle pieces. Turner is one man behind a good chunk of American media. A media tycoon who developed CNN, the first 24 hour news channel, and philanthropist, (the title given to all rich folks who donate to supposedly honorable charity organization). Ted thought a billion dollars would be a nice donation to causes such as the United Nations Foundation. The UNF was born of Turner money and is a public charity for the sole purpose of supporting the United Nations. That to me is a very interesting fact, and adds to the mystery behind the guidestones. Ted Turner is also chairman of the board for the UNF. He also owns more land than any other American, and devotes most of his assets to the environment and capitalistic ventures. Turner also created the environmental animation series, “Captain Planet and the Planeteers.” So he is overly environmentally friendly and has made an attempt to influence children to gain the same perspective, but that’s not enough to get me hooked on the idea. Add to it the opening announcement of CNN in 1980 when Turner announced “We won't be signing off until the world ends. We'll be on, and we will cover the end of the world, live, and that will be our last event... and when the end of the world comes, we'll play 'Nearer, My God, to Thee' before we sign off.” and the fact is real first name is Robert, Robert Edward "Ted" Turner III, then maybe you’ve got the ball rolling. R. C. Christian authored “Common Sense Reviewed” with the pen name “Robert Christian” and Turners first name is actually Robert. Turner was wealthy enough to finance the Georgia Guidestones project and already lives by the messages they present. That’s what the journalist is proclaiming. Those are the dots we’re given, and when I connect them my picture is still incomplete. I need more proof but the conspiracy theory has garnered my interest. I can see the possibility but still have doubt. Do you think Turner may be involved, that he just might be R.C. Christian.

Books of Interest Behind the Conspiracies
To go back to the books for a minute, “Common Sense Renewed” was based on a Thomas Paine book titled just “Common Sense” and makes references to another Paine book “The Age of Reason,” which was criticized as displaying an intent towards destroying the Judeo-Christian beliefs upon which our Republic is based. That book contains many references to the “Freemasons,” another conspiracy theory type of mystery. A few excerpts from the complete version that are freemason related are found in the third part of the book which apparently was never mass published, they are as follows:
“Masonry (as I shall show from the customs, ceremonies, hieroglyphics, and chronology of Masonry) is derived and is the remains of the religion of the ancient Druids; who, like the Magi of Persia and the Priests of Heliopolis in Egypt, were Priests of the Sun.”
“The christian religion and Masonry have one and the same common origin: both are derived from the worship of the Sun. The difference between their origin is, that the christian religion is a parody on the worship of the Sun, in which they put a man whom they call Christ, in the place of the Sun”
“The emblematical meaning of the Sun is well known to the enlightened and inquisitive Free-Mason; and as the real Sun is situated in the center of the universe, so the emblematical Sun is the center of real Masonry.”
“The Lodges of the Masons, if built for the purpose, are constructed in a manner to correspond with the apparent motion of the Sun. They are situated East and West.”
“The case is, that the day called St. John’s day, is the 24th of June, and is what is called Midsummer-day. The sun is then arrived at the summer solstice.
“The religion of the Druids, as before said, was the same as the religion of the ancient Egyptians. The priests of Egypt were the professors and teachers of science, and were styled priests of Heliopolis, that is, of the City of the Sun.”
“The natural source of secrecy is fear. When any new religion over-runs a former religion, the professors of the new become the persecutors of the old.”
“the christian religion over-ran the religion of the Druids in Italy, ancient Gaul, Britain, and Ireland, the Druids became the subject of persecution. This would naturally and necessarily oblige such of them as remained attached to their original religion to meet in secret, and under the strongest injunctions of secrecy. Their safety depended upon it. A false brother might expose the lives of many of them to destruction; and from the remains of the religion of the Druids, thus preserved, arose the institution which, to avoid the name of Druid, took that of Mason, and practiced under this new name the rites and ceremonies of Druids.”

Below is a link to Robert Longfield’s theory of the origin of Freemasonry.
http://freemasonry.bcy.ca/history/longfield_r.html
The possible relations between Paine’s books, freemasonry and the guidestones and Ted Turner take a little imagination to piece together but there is some logic to it all if looked at a certain way. Take all the happenings of the world right now, the political turmoil across the globe, the economic crisis’ everywhere, the rapid advancements of technology, the claims of environmental demise, and so on, then add to it some conspiracy theories and figures of wealthy elite, and then stir it all together. What is it you have? The remote possibility that there may actually be a completed connect-the-dots type of artwork! To say the theory isn’t possible is just as valid as saying it is definitely possible. Could the group that commissioned the Georgia Guidestones be one of many similar groups working together toward the mysterious “New World Order,”that includes a new world economic system, and a new world spirituality. With all that is going on throughout our world I can’t find myself able to discount the conspiracy theory regarding the Georgia Guidestones.
Decoded, full length Georgia Guidestones episode
History Channel's Show 'Decoded' Takes on the Georgia Guidestones
Even the History Channel took a stab at the mysterious stones by bringing light to the subject on their show “Decoded.” In the season finale of ‘Brad Meltzer’s Decoded’ his team investigates the Georgia Guidestones. The show had called the guidestones ‘America‘s Stonehenge‘ and stated some call them ‘The Ten Commandments of the Anti-Christ’. Meltzer also points out the four slabs vertical stance with one piece placed horizontally across the top. The show confirms the astronomical alignments and the anonymous person who purchased their construction to the fact the messages are written in eight of the world’s common languages and four of our planet’s ancient tongues. As Brad’s team arrivea on scene, they are taken aback by the structure. The team’s engineer, Mac, is very much impressed with the astronomical alignments, such as a hole in the capstone which marks the noon hour all year round. In addition to the main stones, there are also a series of supporting stones. The ‘Explanation Stone’ placed horizontally some six feet away and marks a time capsule, with a blank date given for when it is to be opened. The team then considers the message written in the 12 languages with the inscription “Let these be guidestones to an Age of Reason”. Author Raymond Wiley meets the team and tells the story of how some people believe the pseudonym of ‘R.C. Christian’ to be a twist on Christian Rosenkreuz, founder of the Rosicrucians in Germany during the 1600‘s. The group was originally made up of doctors who tinkered with alchemy and mind control. The view from above the Georgia Guidestones bares resemblance with the Rosy Cross, a symbol of the Rosicrusians. The team next meets up with Van Smith, a journalist who spins the tale of how the Guidestones foresees impending Apocalypse. In this regard, the Guidestones are directions for the survivors in regrouping to establish a New World Order. Smith calls the Guidestones, “Humanity’s Tombstone”. He also makes the claim that the Rosicrucians are a sinister bunch and charges that Sirhan Sirhan was a member and had been brain washed into assassinating Robert F. Kennedy. But Meltzer didn’t buy that story and neither should we. Should we? Brad arranges for his team to meet with Rev. Bette Benner, a Rosicrucian herself. Bette provides some rational thinking in suggesting that the secrecy of the group was to avoid persecution from the Catholic Church whom view Christ as a Man who became a God, as opposed to the Son of God who became Man.
Scott from the show goes alone to meet with film producer Jay Wiedner. His take on the Rosicrucians and the Guidestones is a positive one. Wiedner says they are meant to save Humanity and not to destroy it, believing the Rosicrucians may possess secret knowledge pertaining to an impending solar flare and comets crashing which all but wipes out our species. Interesting perspective since scientists have traced events some 13,000 years ago in which North America was pummeled by pieces of a shattered comet. Brad also points to the recent warnings from NASA regarding a drastic increase of solar flares. Next, the group met with a man from the Elberton Granite Association whom claims to have met man who funded the monument. That man claimed it was not Ted Turner despite the comments from an interview where he exclaims the world would be ecologically better off if 95% of humanity was gone! Brave statement Mr. Turner!

Video Journal of the Guidestones(backround music)
They go on to meet with a scientist researching artificial tele-kinesis. Buddy volunteers to try her experiment, straps on a wired cap that links his brain to a robotic arm and succeeds in making it move on his first try! The scientist is astonished while saying less than 20% of those tested have success the first attempt. A Dr. James Burton then meets the group telling them how psychics has been predicting the Apocalypse for centuries and how significant ‘Earth Changes’ are coming as he showed them a map of how the U. S. would most likely look like after such an event.. Much of the land along the west coast, and portions of New York and Florida appear underwater. Georgia, interestingly enough, is one of the six safe zones the psychics model has created. The team compares notes, concluding the Georgia Guidestones are not “Humanity’s Tombstone”, and are in their opinions not the “Ten Commandments of the Anti-Christ”. “Could it be a tool to help survivors of an Apocalypse rebuild a better Earth?” Is the purpose more for simple self-examination, to promote considering a new Age of Reason“. Meltzer ends the first season of ‘Decoded’ with a different theory. During the Cold War was when the Georgia Guidestones were constructed. The Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan and they and the United States were facing off with thousands of nuclear warheads. Brad says “less
to do about Mayan calendars and more with practical geo-politics.” I say, “ It seems this mystery may remain just that. Then again if the recent campaign to have the Georgia Guidestones demolished and removed from public land goes through, maybe some more conspiracies will begin to circulate and discover a few more dots to connect before the whole picture is drawn out in it’s entirety.

Hey, much better hub than mine that sort of touched on the subject.
I think everyone knows that R.C.C. is Ted Turner. He's just a second rate illuminati guy, and he was probably trying to move up the occult one world ladder, or something.
What a curious thing this all is! I'm absolutely fascinated - and I had completely forgotten about the Georgia Guidestones, so this was a fun refresher. Voted up!
Interesting read. I think it might just be adding wood to the flames. People want to think of the end and ways to help survive and this might be just an outlet for them. So if it ever happens they can shout "Told you so!" I once wrote a book about a homeless man that was constantly saying the end was near and when it happened he started laughing, went to the bar and said to the bar keep, "All these years and now people finally believe me... truth is, I never really believed it would happen either."
As for the tenth planet portion, I really think they were just looking at the ten commandments and trying to model it out to be that way... kind of trying to find new followers to listen to their ideas and beliefs. This might be offensive, but sometimes I wonder if cults make suicide hotlines just to get new members to follow them... just a thought.
If,you know anything about the history of the earth then it's not unlikely that we would have a worldwide disaster like a new Ice age at some point.
Interesting article Jeremy. I have been curious about The Georgia Guidestones since I first heard about them. I saw the Decoded episode you mentioned, and felt like I was no closer to the facts surrounding the stones. (But I was entertained!)
If I was filthy rich, like a Ted Turner, I might commission to have my thoughts "set in stone".
The fact that we can't be 100% sure who was respondsible for the commission of these stones is a tantalizing puzzle. Who? Why? And many other questions may never be explained.
It is very interesting to explore, and you made this article a very good read.
I feel ive been lead to different sights and shows on t.v. All guiding me to dec 21 2012 the map dr burton has provided all of us searching should be taken to your very heart thankyou dr

The sun is the center of a solar system ,not the universe.I guess they didn't know that back then.
Ted Turner is a strange Character to say the least.
It,strikes me as odd that these stones are only now being revealed. Why is it they didn't appear much sooner.
Could it be because, those who had it built only recently discovered that our solar system had a tenth Planet with an orbit of 3.600 years? If,they knew ahead of time it makes sense that they would take advantage of the fact by placing the stones with those messages.Who knows what their motives are? They are trying to Influence us that is definitely one of their motives. There may be other unknown motives as well.
